Downstairs Powder Bath Update in Tanglewood

A fresh update to a dated bathroom

  • New vanity & porcelain countertop

  • Wood-look porcelain tile

  • Updated lighting + new hardware and fixtures

  • Fresh paint

  • Total cost: $8,000

An outdated downstairs powder bathroom, needed a fresh look, but on a budget. Because the homeowner would be selling the home following completion, the floorplan remained the same, but updates to the flooring, fresh paint and a new vanity were all within budget.

Before, the bathroom was stuck in the past. An extremely low vanity, with an outdated solid surface countertop and dingy tile flooring. Just off the kitchen, this powder bath was large, and the client wanted to have a showstopper moment for guests.

Because wallpapering was out of the budget, the client opted to paint the walls a striking dark color - Sherwin Williams Ripe Olive eggshell, for a dark and sophisticated update.

Calacatta Gold Porcelain countertop and gold fixtures for bathroom

While there were no physical changes to the footprint of this bathroom, there were many updates made.

  • A new freestanding vanity cabinet with a Calacatta Gold Porcelain countertop

  • A new sink & faucet

  • A brand new toilet

  • Updated LED trim for the can light and a new sconce light fixture above the sink

  • New wood tile flooring

  • New hardware & mirror

In total this Houston-area bathroom remodel project cost about $8,000 and took about 2 weeks to complete.
